Treatments

We are physiotherapy and osteopathy professionals. Our main goal is our patients’ quality of life and wellbeing, with sessions built entirely around each person.

At Clínica Mà i Cos we are physiotherapy and osteopathy professionals. Our main goal is our patients’ quality of life and wellbeing. We have a team of specialist practitioners to achieve it, through physiotherapy and osteopathy sessions built entirely around each person, because no two people and no two problems are the same.

We work closely and personally, listening carefully to what the patient tells us so we can get to the heart of the problem, and addressing it with a wide range of manual techniques.

Physiotherapy is our core training, together with sport sciences, and it is what has allowed us to specialise in every other area.

That is why, at Clínica Mà i Cos, we cannot imagine treating anyone without applying techniques drawn from physiotherapy: massage in all its forms, stretching, therapeutic exercise and so on. Always aimed at relieving the patient’s symptoms.

For us, osteopathy is more than a technique: it is a diagnostic method that takes in the whole body and all its structures, so we can reach the most accurate diagnosis possible and take our treatment to the origin of the injury. Once the diagnosis is made, osteopathy also gives us a wide range of techniques to bring the body back to its optimal state so it can heal itself. The main aim, then, is to give the body the tools it needs to be in the best possible condition as soon as possible.

A healthy pelvic floor matters a great deal to every woman’s quality of life, so when it is not working properly it affects daily life and, with it, physical and mental health. If you have urinary incontinence, painful periods or pain during sex, if you are pregnant or have already given birth, do come and see us. These are some of the main problems that can be treated, and we will help you find a solution.

A large proportion of pelvic floor injuries stem from childbirth. Hence the importance of reaching that moment in our lives as prepared as possible: physically, technically and emotionally. Information is power, and to have a full, untraumatic birth it is essential to arrive well informed. At Clínica Mà i Cos we can prepare you for that moment, you and your birth partner, so that meeting your baby is the happiest moment of your lives. If that was not your experience and the birth has left you with some after-effect, we will help you resolve it as far as possible.

In the first years of life a baby may show changes or problems arising from pregnancy or birth, or related to their pattern of growth. Through very gentle and completely harmless cranial and visceral techniques, osteopathy helps the child return to normal and feel better.

The cases we treat most often are:

  • Cranial deformity (plagiocephaly), usually caused by the use of forceps or ventouse during delivery.
  • Congenital torticollis.
  • Infant colic (wind, constipation and so on).
  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux.
  • Respiratory problems (bronchiolitis and so on).
  • Blocked tear duct.
  • Acute otitis media in infants.
  • Strabismus (squint).
  • Curvature of the spine (scoliosis).

Temporomandibular dysfunction, whether in the joint or the muscles, can cause discomfort that also affects people’s daily lives. Because of the pace of life we lead, cases of bruxism are on the rise.

This habit of clenching or grinding the teeth ends up overloading the muscles, which leads to neck pain, headaches, facial or dental pain and ear discomfort such as pain, buzzing or ringing.

With the help of physiotherapy and osteopathy we can ease the consequences of these habits, which are hard to control because they happen unconsciously.

Full treatment of this joint is multidisciplinary: several health professionals take part, such as dentists or maxillofacial surgeons, alongside the physiotherapist. The physiotherapist focuses assessment and treatment on the neuromusculoskeletal elements of the joint (muscles, ligaments, nerves), through manual treatment such as mobilisation or massage and physical agents such as cold.

They also play an important role in movement reeducation and in the habits that prevent future problems or improve the current one.

At Clínica Mà i Cos we can help you prevent and treat any sports or traumatic injury: from the earliest stages, with or without surgery, through rehabilitation of the injury and on to the final return to sport, a crucial step in avoiding a relapse.

We treat sports injuries in professionals and amateurs alike, as well as injuries in people who take part in physical activity occasionally.

We are physiotherapists and osteopaths specialising in physical activity and sport, and graduates in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, with extensive experience in this field and qualified as national coaches in athletics, swimming and fitness.

One of our core qualifications is the degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. So if you have set yourself a sporting goal in the short, medium or long term, we can help.

We put together training plans aimed at a specific goal, such as a marathon or any other sporting event. Physical preparation for public-service entrance exams (firefighter, police and so on), or simply physical preparation to be fit and as healthy as possible.

Most of the back problems people suffer today come from poor posture. A sedentary job, where you spend hour after hour sitting, is just as harmful as a very physical, heavy job in which you can hurt yourself.

At Clínica Mà i Cos we can assess your posture and help you improve it, so that injuries do not become repetitive because of these habits.

Shall we talk about what is going on?

Tell us about your case and we will tell you honestly whether we can help. First assessment with no obligation.
